Custom Plastic Bushings Manufacturer

Custom Plastic Bushings Made to Your Drawings

Plasticpartsmfg manufactures custom plastic bushings for machinery, robotics, pumps and valves, food-processing equipment, and automation systems. Send us a CAD model, engineering drawing, or sample for a quotation based on your required material, fit, quantity, and production method.

We make sleeve, flanged, grooved, and other non-standard bushings for prototype, low-volume, and repeat production projects. Share the shaft dimensions and operating conditions along with your part files so we can review the ID and OD tolerances, clearance or press fit, wall thickness, and concentricity requirements.

Plastic Bushing Manufacturing Options

The best process depends on the bushing geometry, material, required quantity, and fit. We review the design and intended use before recommending a process.

CNC Machining

Often a practical choice for prototypes, custom dimensions, and small batches because it does not require production injection-molding tooling.

Injection Molding

Worth evaluating for repeat orders where the part design and volume support tooling investment.

3D Printing

Helps assess form and assembly for early fit checks, but printed material may not represent wear or operating performance of a production bushing.

If you are comparing processes, include your target quantity and production plans; the right choice for a few evaluation parts may differ from the right choice for recurring orders.

Custom Bushing Capabilities

We manufacture parts from customer-supplied CAD files, drawings, or samples. Our machining and molding capabilities support projects from individual prototypes to production quantities, with secondary operations and assembly available when specified.

Project Requirement Options and Information to Provide
Bushing geometry Sleeve, flanged, grooved, split, stepped, and other drawing-defined forms
Critical dimensions ID, OD, length, flange dimensions, wall thickness, and groove details
Fit and alignment Shaft clearance or press fit, mating housing dimensions, and concentricity requirements
Materials POM, PA (nylon), PEEK, and other plastics selected for the application
Manufacturing processes CNC machining, injection molding, and prototyping processes selected by part and quantity
Order quantities Prototype, low-volume, bridge production, and repeat production
File formats STEP, STP, IGES, X_T, STL, DXF, DWG, and PDF
Finishing and support Polishing, printing, engraving, bonding, assembly, and packaging as required

Dimensions, Fits, and Drawing Review

A bushing's performance depends on how it fits both the shaft and its housing. A close shaft fit can restrict movement or cause binding; excessive clearance can allow unwanted play. A press fit may change the bore after installation, so the housing dimensions and assembly method matter alongside the free-state dimensions.

When requesting a quote, identify the critical ID and OD dimensions, specified tolerances, shaft and housing materials, and whether the bushing is intended to slide, rotate, guide, or remain fixed. Include wall thickness and concentricity requirements where they affect function. We review these details against the selected material and manufacturing method rather than assuming one tolerance or fit applies to every part.

Material Selection for Operating Conditions

Plastic grades vary in stiffness, wear behavior, temperature capability, moisture response, and chemical compatibility. The right choice depends on the load, speed, lubrication, environment, and mating surface—not just the material name.

PTFE and UHMW-PE are subject to material availability and project review. For food-processing or laboratory equipment, specify any food-contact, chemical, cleaning, or documentation requirements at the quotation stage. Material suitability depends on the actual grade and application conditions.

Material Potential Fit Points to Evaluate
POM (acetal) General-purpose sliding and guiding applications that need a stable, machinable plastic Confirm load, temperature, lubrication, and the required fit
PA (nylon) Applications where toughness and wear resistance are important Nylon can absorb moisture, which may affect dimensions and clearance
PEEK Demanding applications that may involve elevated temperatures or challenging operating environments Confirm the specific grade, load, mating surface, and chemical exposure
PTFE Applications where low friction or chemical resistance is a priority Its mechanical behavior under load and the required dimensional stability need review
UHMW-PE Wear-focused applications that may benefit from impact resistance and chemical resistance Evaluate temperature, load, creep, and the required precision

Common Plastic Bushing Types

Choose the structure to suit the direction of support, axial location, lubrication approach, and assembly method. We can review these configurations against your drawing and mating parts.

Plastic Sleeve Bushings

Provide radial support around a shaft in a simple cylindrical form.

Plastic Flanged Bushings

Add a flange to help locate the part axially and support a surface at the end of the bore.

Plastic Split Bushings

Allow a split construction where installation or assembly access calls for it.

Plastic Grooved Bushings

Include grooves that can support a specified lubrication or debris-management approach.

Plastic Shoulder Bushings

Use a shoulder to set insertion depth or provide axial location.

Plastic Press-Fit Bushings

Fit into a housing with an interference fit; the specified housing and installation method are important.

Plastic Insulating Bushings

Separate components electrically where the selected material and geometry meet the application requirements.

Plastic Guide Bushings

Guide a shaft, rod, or moving component along its intended path.

Plastic Bearing Bushings

Support relative movement between components; load, speed, lubrication, and wear life need review.

Custom Stepped Bushings

Combine changes in diameter or length to suit a non-standard housing or assembly.

Selecting a Bushing for Your Project

A useful RFQ explains what the bushing must do in the assembly. The same geometry may need a different material or fit depending on whether it supports a rotating shaft, guides a reciprocating rod, insulates a fastener, or locates a component.

Machinery and Automation

Provide shaft speed, load direction, expected movement, and lubrication conditions. These help guide material and clearance discussions.

Robotics

Include the movement range, assembly space, shaft and housing dimensions, and any weight or electrical-insulation requirements.

Pumps and Valves

Share the operating temperature, pressure or load conditions, fluid or chemical exposure, and relevant mating materials.

Food Equipment

Identify cleaning agents, operating temperatures, and any food-contact or documentation requirements. Do not assume every plastic grade is suitable.

Repeat OEM Production

Include estimated order quantities, annual demand if available, number of part variants, and any finishing or packaging needs.

If the part is still in development, we can review a prototype-stage design and discuss how it may translate to low-volume or repeat manufacturing. This helps you consider fit and production requirements before committing to a process.

What to Send for a Quote

Send the most complete information available; an initial RFQ does not need to wait for a finished production package. To help us assess feasibility and prepare a relevant quotation, include:

  1. 1 A STEP, STP, IGES, or X_T model, plus a drawing if available.
  2. 2 Critical ID, OD, length, wall thickness, and tolerances.
  3. 3 The shaft and housing dimensions and the intended clearance or press fit.
  4. 4 Preferred material, or the load, temperature, lubrication, and chemical conditions for material review.
  5. 5 Prototype, trial, or production quantity and any repeat-order expectations.
  6. 6 Required surface finish, assembly, inspection details, or packaging.

We will review the supplied requirements and follow up if a fit, material, or manufacturing detail needs clarification.
